The End of a Challenging yet Rewarding Term!

                                                                                           Dear explorers of the future of education! 

    First of all, I had a productive term where I learned a lot about integrating technology into education. The strongest aspect of this course was definitely that it was not only theoretical but also practical. We prepared materials on AR, VR, and many other topics we covered, which made the course even more educational.

   I can honestly say that the weakest aspect of the course was using blogs. I believe blog literacy is declining nowadays, and an Instagram account for education could be much more effective and reach a wider audience.

   I didn’t find the course particularly difficult; it was just a little time-consuming. My favorite task was definitely the VR-integrated teaching material. The preparation phase was so much fun, and using realistic 360-degree videos was an amazing experience.


   On the other hand, the task I enjoyed the least was preparing corpus-based teaching material. It was very challenging and confusing to understand how to use COCA. Honestly, I’m not sure if students can grasp it fully on their first try.

   My advice to students who will take this course next year is to choose topics they genuinely like and try to have as much fun as possible while designing materials. Otherwise, it might be hard to enjoy the course. Also, dividing tasks and choosing group members wisely can make assignments much more manageable.

   As I always say, while the world is changing and developing so quickly, we, the teachers of the future, cannot stand still. It’s crucial to keep up with the changes and integrate technology into language classes. For this reason, I believe this course will be incredibly useful in the future, and I’m glad to have taken it. I would also like to thank my group mates who worked with me in all these assginments.

From Corpus to Classroom: Making Context Meaningful!

Introduction  Hello again! Have you ever wondered how to make English lessons more engaged and connected to the real life? Thanks to the technology, there are many opportunities arise for both teachers & learners to provide meaningful context. Today, I'll share how my colleagues and I adapted one of them, corpus research, into a lesson plan. So for the curious minds, let's get started!   Education in the 21st century Let's have look at changes   👀 📕   I'm sure everyone is as confused as I am about the rapid changes in education and today. We don't have to go back very far to see this difference. Just fifty years ago, in the 1980s, when it came to language teaching, audio recorders, books, long word lists and blackboards came to mind.  Now, online lessons, where students and teachers can come together from all over the world, have entered our lives, especially with the pandemic. You don't even need to be in a classroom anymore! Artificial intelligence, online platforms and applications and much more..  Also in schools, these were replaced by smart boards and books. The introduction of technology into our lives has changed not only methods but also the student profile. It would be a futile dream to expect today's children to sit in rows for hours with thick books and long texts.
