Ar and Vr: What are These?

  AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) are innovative technologies that enhance language learning by making it more engaging and interactive. AR adds digital content to the real world, while VR offers fully immersive virtual environments. Their most important advantage in learning is that they can provide students with a realistic and authentic context, unlike the artificial classroom environment. The disadvantages of these include the difficulties in implementing it in classrooms with limited technology resources, as well as the possibility that virtual reality experiences would lead to learners addiction.

Creating an VR Integrated Teaching Material

In this assignment, we created VR-integrated instructional materials focused on marine pollution. The worksheet consists of five steps: 1) a 360-degree video introducing marine pollution, giving students a realistic experience, 2) another video exploring the causes of marine pollution, 3) a video discussing its harmful effects on the environment, 4) a video explaining prevention methods, and 5) a final step where students create a brochure to share what they've learned, helping to raise awareness and educate others about the issue.

Procedure and More

This assignment was actually fairly simple, and we encountered a few challenges. I think the most difficult part was picking which 360 videos to use. Aside from that, we all collaborated and shared ideas while developing the material. There was no clear division of work; we all completed parts at the same time and corrected each other's mistakes.

My Reflections on Future Use of Vr in Education

I think AR and VR are a great way for students to experience the authentic context in which a language is used. Although not very common now, I think they will definitely become an integral part of the language classroom in the future, and as a teacher I would definitely use them.

  Education in the 21st century Let's have look at changes   👀 📕   I'm sure everyone is as confused as I am about the rapid changes in education and today. We don't have to go back very far to see this difference. Just fifty years ago, in the 1980s, when it came to language teaching, audio recorders, books, long word lists and blackboards came to mind.  Now, online lessons, where students and teachers can come together from all over the world, have entered our lives, especially with the pandemic. You don't even need to be in a classroom anymore! Artificial intelligence, online platforms and applications and much more..  Also in schools, these were replaced by smart boards and books.
