Hello, everyone!

Who I am?

I hope you didn't think I forgot the blog! We continue where we left off! If I need to introduce myself again, my name is Başak, and I am a 21-year-old third-year ELT student. I use my blog to share a variety of experiences and assignments, as well as educational and technological topics.

So, what’s this blog all about? 

After a few months of rest I'm back and ready to dive into a critical topic for an ELT student in the digital age: the interaction between education and technology. If you want to study about the evolution of technology in English language instruction, as well as the underlying ideas and pedagogical principles that enable its use, this course—Current Issues in Teaching—is the place to be.

As with my previous postings, I plan to share primarily educational content. My blog contains assignments I had in Current Issues in Teaching course. Also, as you are aware, innovations create new problems. Thus, we'll look at how these innovations are changing the way people teach and learn. Additionally, I will discuss the challenges emerged with the digital-learning age. 

Why am I blogging? 

Because, as an instructor in the twenty-first century, it is critical to stay informed on progresses, broaden my perspective in technology and education, and keep up connections with other educators. This is how I can develop myself as a both teacher and student. This forum is for teachers, students, and anybody with a curious mind.

  Hello everyone!  Today, I’m excited to share my experience of designing and creating a flipped classroom video specifically for teaching vocabulary. So let's get started! What is a Flipped Classroom?   A flipped classroom is an instructional approach where students engage with new material at home, typically through videos or readings, and then apply that knowledge in class through interactive activities. This method promotes active learning and allows for more personalized instruction during class time. From Corpus to Classroom: Making Context Meaningful!

Introduction  Hello again! Have you ever wondered how to make English lessons more engaged and connected to the real life? Thanks to the technology, there are many opportunities arise for both teachers & learners to provide meaningful context. Today, I'll share how my colleagues and I adapted one of them, corpus research, into a lesson plan. So for the curious minds, let's get started! The Task &  Design Process For this assignment, we prepared a lesson plan based on the ASSURE model, focusing on the correct use of many and much.  The material we designed for the lesson combines vocabulary from the Party unit in the MEB high school preparatory book with authentic examples from corpus-based research.  Additionally, we used Canva to engage students and avoid a boring worksheet.   In the worksheet we designed, we followed the steps of 'Ma et al.   Education in the 21st century Let's have look at changes   👀 📕   I'm sure everyone is as confused as I am about the rapid changes in education and today. We don't have to go back very far to see this difference. Just fifty years ago, in the 1980s, when it came to language teaching, audio recorders, books, long word lists and blackboards came to mind.  Now, online lessons, where students and teachers can come together from all over the world, have entered our lives, especially with the pandemic. You don't even need to be in a classroom anymore! Artificial intelligence, online platforms and applications and much more..  Also in schools, these were replaced by smart boards and books. The introduction of technology into our lives has changed not only methods but also the student profile. It would be a futile dream to expect today's children to sit in rows for hours with thick books and long texts.
