 Creating a digital story-psa: Let's keep up with the changes

  Hello again, it's been a while since my last post and today, as you can guess, I'm going to talk a little bit about digital stories and public service announcements.

  First of all, what is a digital story? We can say that digital stories are basically the written stories we know, enriched with visuals and sound effects. We were very undecided between creating a story and making a public service announcement. So we adapted our public service announcement to the story format and made a digital public service announcement-story for children! I think it was more interesting than usual, and I liked the result. 

  We chose the topic of children's internet safety, which is really important to us. In order to make our video like a public service announcement and to emphasize the importance of our topic, we included the information we received from different sources at the end.

  To tell you the truth, I was excited when I first heard about this assignment, but compared to podcasting, I think I liked podcasting more. The reason is pretty obvious: the video creation process! I really had fun designing and dressing the characters and decorating the scenes, but it took a lot of time. My group friends and I designed our video characters using 'pixton', then I combined these scenes using 'capcut' and turned them into a video. In the last step, we added the voices we recorded first, then added the effects and background music.

  As for my opinions as an elt student, it is a really fun task and it may be beneficial for students to prepare content in English. However, due to time constraints, if I give this type of assignment to my students in the future, it will probably be for a holiday.

  Education in the 21st century Let's have look at changes   👀 📕   I'm sure everyone is as confused as I am about the rapid changes in education and today. We don't have to go back very far to see this difference. Just fifty years ago, in the 1980s, when it came to language teaching, audio recorders, books, long word lists and blackboards came to mind.  Now, online lessons, where students and teachers can come together from all over the world, have entered our lives, especially with the pandemic.
