Co-Writed Film Review: It was so fun!

   Hello everyone! I hope everything has been going well since my last post.
 
  Today I will talk about an assignment that I really enjoyed doing. As you can see from the title: it is co-writing. The subject of this article, which I wrote via Google Docs with my group friends Pınar and Belinay, is a film review. We had many options in mind when choosing a movie, but in the end, we decided on The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, one of Wes Anderson's Netflix trilogy. We had a lot of fun watching it and commenting on the film among ourselves, and we also discussed what we could talk about. 

  Thanks to the feature of Google Docs that allows more than one person to write to a file at the same time, we were able to correct each other's writings, give feedback, and exchange ideas. Moreover, the fact that all of this happened online and we did not have to travel from different parts of Istanbul to meet for the assignment made our job much easier. Google Docs was already a platform I used for group assignments, and I find it very useful from a student's perspective. In the future, I would probably recommend this and similar co-writing platforms to my students. 

  After the movie review was completed, we found a group for peer feedback, and we mutually read each other's reviews and made comments. Actually, I liked this very much because, in this way, everyone had a good time learning about different films, and if we liked it, we could watch the movie.

From Corpus to Classroom: Making Context Meaningful!

Introduction  Hello again! Have you ever wondered how to make English lessons more engaged and connected to the real life? Thanks to the technology, there are many opportunities arise for both teachers & learners to provide meaningful context. Today, I'll share how my colleagues and I adapted one of them, corpus research, into a lesson plan.   Education in the 21st century Let's have look at changes   👀 📕   I'm sure everyone is as confused as I am about the rapid changes in education and today. We don't have to go back very far to see this difference. Just fifty years ago, in the 1980s, when it came to language teaching, audio recorders, books, long word lists and blackboards came to mind.  Now, online lessons, where students and teachers can come together from all over the world, have entered our lives, especially with the pandemic. You don't even need to be in a classroom anymore! Artificial intelligence, online platforms and applications and much more..  Also in schools, these were replaced by smart boards and books.
