Creating Podcasts: in my words, modern radio broadcasts!
My podcast creation experience and thoughts
Hello again!
As you can see from the title, today's topic is podcasts. Sincerely, I had a lot of fun doing this task and it really reminded me of a virtual radio program. We had many topics to choose from, and my groupmate Pınar and I chose to write a short-story with our choice of given words, record it, and add sound effects. After the sudden and mysterious murder of Miss Evans, who loved fortune-telling and was a little lunatic, Betty tells us her memories about the old lady.
The part of writing the story and recording the voice was quite easy, but I had a hard time combining the different voices ıwithin the time limit. The part of adding sound effects took some time, but it was enjoyable. Thanks to the applications - we used Capcut - we had many effect options. The part that saddens me is that since we converted the audio a few times, its sound quality deteriorated a bit and I still haven't figured out how to prevent this. Moreover, we even uploaded the podcast to an online platform (spotify)!
Let's get to the education part of this. Would I consider giving the task of recording podcasts to my students in the future? Definitely yes! I love assignments where students can use their own creativity and choose the subject they want from a few options, rather than assignments that they do out of obligation. This is why I enjoy creating podcasts myself. They will also use technology while doing this. That's why I think I will use this type of assignment when I become a teacher.
Also, our podcast is live on spotify! Don't forget to listen!
