Can infographics actually be useful in English classrooms?
Let's talk about my first infographic - creating process
Well, honestly, it was really difficult for me to design an infographic for the first time. I thought I was at least somewhat hands-on with technology, but it took me hours to even understand what was going on and what I needed to do.
I did this for an assignment and chose the topic of plagiarism. Of course, there were other subjects as well, but since I had been learning about plagiarism at the university since last year, I thought it would be easier. Then I realized that I was totally wrong, unfortunately, that I actually didn't know anything and I had to do a lot of research. I think the hardest part was deciding exactly which part of the information I was reading to write on the chart, because it had to be eye-catching, informative and brief at the same time.
Afterwards, it was a complete mess for me, but I got help from Canva. I arranged some templates according to my own taste - of course I chose pink-purple tones that reflect me, there is nothing like pastel colors -.
When it comes to the effect of infographics on language learning, it does not seem to be a tool that is used very much right now, but considering that people today have short focus times and will love digital posters, I think it should really be considered. I think that at least some brief information can be hanged in the classroom with infographics. I'm sure these colorful visuals will attract the attention of children and adults living in the 21st century. I thought they might be suitable to give general information about English or to introduce some language structures. Although they are a bit tedious to prepare, they are perfect for conveying information in terms of practicality and are quite catchy.
Now it's time to have look at my infographic, I hopu you like it!
