A little intro

So, what will I be sharing on this blog?

I plan to divide my blog into two parts. 
In the first part, I've created b'sharings (aka Başak's sharings) for educational purposes, and I will be writing articles about my assignments. Almost all of these topics will be about technology and education. I will share my thoughts about how technological opportunities can affect English learning and teaching. I will also try different tools I learned in classes and write my opinions about them. Since the content of my course combines digital materials and English learning, my posts will also be on this context.

 But I also plan to tell stories about the places I visited for fun in the second part, b'travels. If you have read my 'about me' page, you know that I love traveling and one of my biggest dreams is to visit as many different countries as possible and get to know their cultures. What I mean is - although it is still in the planning phase - I plan to create a second section for this on my blog in the future. This part will be more like a diary or a memoir and will be an informal page where I enjoy myself.

Also, since this is not a professional blog yet, my target audience is college students like me, and my writings will be mostly semi-formal, like a conversation. So please do not expect to encounter a quite serious content or formal language. Lastly, I  am thinking of using this theme, which contains illustrations and is predominantly pink, to use on my blogs, regardless of the content. In other words, the difference in appearance and subjects may mislead you at first glance.

From Corpus to Classroom: Making Context Meaningful!

Introduction  Hello again! Have you ever wondered how to make English lessons more engaged and connected to the real life? Thanks to the technology, there are many opportunities arise for both teachers & learners to provide meaningful context. Today, I'll share how my colleagues and I adapted one of them, corpus research, into a lesson plan. So for the curious minds, let's get started! The Task &  Design Process For this assignment, we prepared a lesson plan based on the ASSURE model, focusing on the correct use of many and much.  The material we designed for the lesson combines vocabulary from the Party unit in the MEB high school preparatory book with authentic examples from corpus-based research.  Additionally, we used Canva to engage students and avoid a boring worksheet.   In the worksheet we designed, we followed the steps of 'Ma et al.   Education in the 21st century Let's have look at changes   👀 📕   I'm sure everyone is as confused as I am about the rapid changes in education and today. We don't have to go back very far to see this difference. Just fifty years ago, in the 1980s, when it came to language teaching, audio recorders, books, long word lists and blackboards came to mind.  Now, online lessons, where students and teachers can come together from all over the world, have entered our lives, especially with the pandemic. You don't even need to be in a classroom anymore! Artificial intelligence, online platforms and applications and much more..  Also in schools, these were replaced by smart boards and books. The introduction of technology into our lives has changed not only methods but also the student profile. It would be a futile dream to expect today's children to sit in rows for hours with thick books and long texts.
